Died August 7, 1952 in Korea Technical Sergeant Nixon was leader of the third squad, first platoon, Company D, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. On August 7, 1952, during an assault on "Bronco Hill" in North Korea, his squad came under intense enemy small arms and grenade fire. He was seriously wounded in the face. Later, he was unaccounted for and listed as Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on January 4, 1954. Technical Sergeant Nixon was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
